Overview
The State Planning Provisions (SPPs) together with Local Provisions Schedules (LPSs) form the Tasmanian Planning Scheme for a municipal area. This is an assessment of an amendment to the SPPs to determine if it meets the SPP criteria under the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993.
Draft amendment 01-2026 of the SPPs proposes to make changes to provide greater flexibility for secondary residences (often referred to as ancillary dwellings or granny flats) by increasing the allowable gross floor area from 60m2 to 90m2. The draft amendment also proposes a variety of changes to clarify the requirements for secondary residences.
