The Commission has introduced Practice Notes to assist planners and other practitioners with information about the Commission’s processes. Obsolete versions of Practice Notes can be requested in writing from the Tasmanian Planning Commission.

Section 8A Guidelines
The Commission can introduce, with the approval of the Minister, guidelines under section 8A of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 to assist with preparing and amending Local Provisions Schedules and implementing and operating the Tasmanian Planning Scheme.

Major Project Guidelines and Guidance Notes
The Commission has issued statutory determination guidelines for the Minister regarding declaration of major projects under section 60C of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993.
Non‑statutory guidance notes also assist proponents in addressing assessment criteria in a Major Project Impact Statement.
