Overview
The major project proposes use and development for a wind farm and associated infrastructure northeast of George Town, centred around Soldiers Settlement Road, southwest of Beechford and east of Low Head, with a transmission line connecting to Bell Bay.
It comprises up to 28 wind turbine generators, associated hardstands, a battery energy storage system, electricity reticulation, 8km transmission line, substation and switchyard, access roads, carparking, buildings and associated infrastructure, temporary construction facilities including construction compound, concrete batching plant and quarry on a site of approximately 2780 hectares.
This is the first stage of the major project assessment process under the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 (the Act). If the Development Assessment Panel (the Panel) considers the major project has a reasonable prospect, based on advice from relevant regulators, the Panel prepares and exhibits draft assessment criteria for public comment.
You can view the next stage of this major project assessment process on our website.
