The Minister for Planning has issued interim amendment 02-2024 to the State Planning Provisions (SPPs).

The interim amendment to the SPPs is effective from Wednesday, 29 January 2025. The amendment proposes to facilitate container refund facilities as part of the Container Refund Scheme by:

  • inserting a definition for ‘container refund facility’ Table 3.1 Planning Terms and Definitions;
  • amending the definition of Recycling and Waste Disposal in Table 6.2 Use Classes;
  • inserting a new sub-clause to clause 7.14 Container Refund Points to clarify the operation of the clause;
  • amending the Commercial Zone and Light Industrial Zone Use Tables to create a assessment pathways within each zone for container refund facilities;
  • amending the definition of ‘container refund scheme space’ in C2.0 Parking and Sustainable Transport Code sub-clause C2.3.1; and
  • amending Table C2.1 Parking Space Requirements.
