The Commission, with the approval of the Minister, has issued revised Guideline No.1 – Local Provisions Schedule (LPS): zone and code application (Version 3.0) (PDF, 504.6 KB) (the Guidelines).

The Minister recently approved amendments to the Southern Tasmanian Regional Land Use Strategy’s (the Strategy) Urban Growth Boundary.  By notice in the Gazette, the amended Strategy came into effect on 19 May 2025.  Concurrently the Minister approved amendment to the Guidelines that now require the need for the rezoning of some land to be supported by Precinct Structure Plans under prescribed circumstances.

The amendments to the Guidelines are limited to:

  1. the insertion of a new section at 3.6 (prescribing when the preparation of a Precinct Structure Plan is required), and
  2. additions to the Glossary to include definitions of the terms “higher-order urban zones” and “Precinct Structure Plan”.
