As an independent statutory body, the Tasmanian Planning Commission performs
planning, assessment, hearing and advisory functions under Tasmania's planning
and resource management legislation. The Commission is committed to
maintaining high standards of governance and accountability while exercising its
powers at arm's length from Government and political processes.

The Governance Arrangements document describes the respective roles of the
Commission, Commissioners, delegates and staff, together with the Commission's
governance relationships with Ministers, Parliament and the Department of Justice.
It also outlines arrangements for delegations, assessment panels, communications,
information management, compliance and reporting.

The Governance arrangements reflects the Commission's commitment to
independent, transparent and evidence-based decision-making in the performance of its statutory responsibilities.
