The Commission has introduced Practice Notes to assist planners and other practitioners with information about the Commission’s processes. Practice Notes replace Planning Advisory Notes, which have been retired following successive changes to the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993.
Practice Note 1 - Planning Scheme Amendments - January 2020
To provide guidance on planning scheme amendments under former section 30IA of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993.
To provide guidance on the process for consideration of a combined permit and amendment application made under the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993.
To provide guidance on calculating statutory time periods relevant to processes under the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993.
To provide guidance on drafting conventions, writing style and applied, adopted or incorporated documents, for the Tasmanian Planning Scheme.
To provide advice on preparing draft LPSs and the supporting information to be submitted to the Commission to demonstrate that the draft LPS is suitable for exhibition.
To provide technical advice for creation of GIS datasets and mapping of draft LPSs.
To provide technical advice on drafting and formatting the written part of draft LPSs to ensure consistency.
To provide guidance to planning authorities on the exhibition of their draft Local Provisions Schedules (LPS) and exhibition reporting requirements.
Section 35G – planning authority opinion that amendment of State Planning Provisions (SPPs) is required. This provides guidance on the process for a planning authority to advise the Commission of its opinion that, after considering representations made about its draft Local Provisions Schedule (LPS), an amendment to the State Planning Provisions (SPPs) is required.
