Overview

The major project proposes use and development for wind farms and associated infrastructure at the West Coast, centred around Lake Pieman, extending south to Zeehan and Trial Harbour, east towards Granville Harbour, west towards Renison Bell and north towards Mt Livingston. It comprises approximately 500 wind turbine generators, associated hardstands, access roads, electricity reticulation, substations, office and workshop facilities, temporary construction facilities including construction compounds, concrete batching plants, quarry and bunded refuelling facilities.

This is the first stage of the major project assessment process under the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 (the Act). If the Development Assessment Panel (the Panel) considers the major project has a reasonable prospect, based on advice from relevant regulators, the Panel prepares and exhibits draft assessment criteria for public comment.
