Guidance for drafting LPSs
5 May 2017: The Commission has issued a Guideline and released four Practice Notes to assist in the preparation of draft LPSs.
Guideline No. 1 – Local Provisions Schedules (LPS): zone and code application (PDF, 463.1 KB) has been issued by the Tasmanian Planning Commission under section 8A of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 with the approval of the Minister for Planning and Local Government.
The purpose of the guideline is to provide an easy reference guide for the application of all zones and codes for the preparation of draft Local Provisions Schedules (LPSs) and amendments to LPSs.
The four Practice Notes address technical aspects of preparing zone and code maps and the written LPS document:
- Practice Note 5: Tasmanian Planning Scheme drafting conventions (PDF, 147.5 KB)
- Practice Note 6: Preparing draft Local Provisions Schedules (LPSs) for exhibition (PDF, 179.6 KB)
- Practice Note 7: Draft Local Provisions Schedules (LPSs) mapping: technical advice (PDF, 206.6 KB)
- Practice Note 8: Draft Local Provisions Schedules (LPSs) written document: technical advice (PDF, 237.1 KB)
Along with these documents the Commission has setup a planners portal as a central resource to provide statewide technical guidance to the council planners, GIS specialists or consultants that are preparing draft LPSs.
