The Water Management Act 1999 (effective from 9 June 2004) requires the Commission to review the representations and the report of the Secretary of the Department of Primary Industries, Water, Parks and the Environment relating to draft water management plans.
As part of its review process the Commission can decide whether or not to hold a hearing to assist in its review of the representations and the report. If a hearing is held it must be conducted in accordance with Part 3 of the Tasmanian Planning Commission Act 1997.
The Commission is to provide the Minister with a report of its review and copies of the representations and the report of the Secretary.
Notice of the Commissions report to the Minister and the place where copies of the report are available for inspection by the public will be published in the Gazette.
