By letter dated 17 June 2009, the Premier, the Hon David Bartlett, MP, has directed the Commission to prepare a report on the Draft State Coastal Policy 2008 (Draft Policy) and the associated Implementation Guide. The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPAC) co-ordinated a whole of Government agency contribution to developing the policy, and these documents are now to be reviewed by the Commission under part 2 of the State Policies and Projects Act 1993.
The Commission has received a background paper from DPAC, which was used in the development of the Draft Policy. This will assist the public to prepare representations on these documents.
The Commission will invite representations on the Draft Policy and the Implementation Guide in the near future. Advertisements detailing that request will be placed in The Advocate, Mercury and Examiner newspapers and on this website. These documents will then be on public exhibition for eight (8) weeks for comment.
However, at this stage, the Draft Policy and Implementation Guide are posted for information only.
