Because many individuals and organisations are involved in assessing, monitoring and managing Tasmania’s environment and natural resources, web input forms provide a way for a diverse and dispersed group to contribute information for State of the Environment Tasmania 2008. Contributors may include NRM Groups, Tasmanian Government agencies, Australian Government, Local Government, The University of Tasmania, private companies, consultants and community groups involved in monitoring the environment and natural resources.

While every endeavour will be made to include contributions into State of the Environment Tasmania 2008, resource and publication limits mean that the Commission cannot guarantee that all will be included. Priority will be given to content from published papers, reports, and data that most directly relate to the specified issues or indicators. Unpublished data and information will be included where possible subject to the above constraints. Information about current management activities and initiatives will also be included where possible.

Regardless of whether information is included in the published State of the Environment Report 2008, registered users can view on-line contributions to the SoE Report, and this will remain as a valuable record.

Contributions of information can be made at the higher levels of the report (called ‘Issues’) or at the level of measures of condition or change (called ‘Indicators’). All information used in the report will be acknowledged to the contributing organisations and individuals.

The web input forms are linked to the structure of the State of the Environment Report 2008 so they will evolve as the report is compiled over time. However, please note that the forms present a draft report structure only and the capacity to report against this structure is subject to resourcing and the availability of suitable data.

You can use the forms simply to contribute a document or some data for the report, or to provide more detailed content.
