Draft Impact Assessment Guidelines

Basslink Pty Ltd (BPL) is required to prepare an Integrated Impact Assessment Statement (IIAS), which is a study of the environmental, social, economic and community impacts.

Guidelines for the IIAS will provide BPL with direction on the information that will be required by the Joint Advisory Panel to carry out an assessment of all likely impacts of the proposal.

Draft Scope Guidelines have been prepared in consultation with the Victorian Basslink Community Consultative Committee, George Town Community Consultative Committee, BPL and State and Commonwealth agencies.

Public exhibition of the Draft Guidelines

The Draft Guidelines have been placed on public exhibition and written submissions invited by the Joint Advisory Panel. This is to ensure that all relevant issues have been identified and included in the Guidelines before they are finalised and forwarded to BPL.

Notice of the Draft Scope Guidelines being available for public inspection has been given on Saturday, 27 May 2000 when advertisements were placed in Victorian, Tasmanian and National newspapers. Notices have also been placed in regional Victorian newspapers on 30 May.

Written submissions can be lodged up until 4.30 pm on Wednesday, 28 June.

Final Impact Assessment Guidelines

The Joint Advisory Panel will analyse and evaluate all written submissions received on the Draft Scope Guidelines. The Draft Guidelines will be modified as necessary to produce a final set of Guidelines for the Integrated Impact Assessment Statement.

The final Guidelines (PDF 478 KB/180 pages) will be forwarded to BPL.
