Inquiry on the Progress with Implementation of the Tasmanian Regional Forests Agreement (1997)

On 4 February, 2002 the Minister for Primary Industries, Water and Environment issued a reference to the Commission to conduct an inquiry and report on the progress with implementation of the Tasmanian Regional Forests Agreement (1997).

A Background Report was prepared and released by the Commission on 8 May, 2002 and submissions invited. 110 submissions were received. Public hearings were held in Launceston on 5 August 2002, Ulverstone on 6 August 2002 and Hobart on 9 August 2002.

A Draft Recommendations Report was released for comment on 28 September 2002 and 41 submissions were received.

Further hearings in relation to the submissions received on the Draft Recommendations Report were held on 19 & 20 November 2002 to assist the Commission in formulating its final report to the Minister.

The Final Recommendations Report was provided to the Minister on 20 December 2002 and can be viewed or downloaded in pdf format below.
